This page has been set up as a place to host placemark files of interest to Earth Energy enthusiasts. The first section contains useful links on external sites; the lower sections contain placemarks created by our members. You will of course require Google Earth to view these. Get it here: http://earth.google.com (note that Google Earth requires a hi-spec machine and broadband connection). The files are also compatible with Google Maps.

Email your finished placemark files to: eegevents (at) britishdowsers (dot) org and we'll post them up here.
Note: email address disguised to fool spambots.

Some essential placemarks to get you started. If you come across any more of interest, please let us know.

The Megalithic Portal Fantastic collection of over 18,000 megalithic sites around the globe. Very processor hungry when all are loaded, but there are options to download regional 'blocks' instead.

The Modern Antiquarian Julian Cope's database of UK and Eire sites. Complementary to the TMP placemarks, and contains some sites not listed in the other one.

Becker-Hagens UVG World Grid This one is a must - the complete Unified Vector Geometry 'Earthstar' world grid by Bethe Hagens.

Megalithic Guernsey This only covers the Channel Island of Guernsey, but it contains a few sites not covered in the Megalithic Portal placemark.

The EEG UK leys and alignments project! One of the most frequent questions we get asked is, "where can I get a map of UK leys?" Well, with your help we will eventually create a UK-wide alignment database that you can view in Google Earth. GE versions 4 and above allow you to not only mark places, but also draw your own paths between them. This means that you can effectively map out alignments between sites using Google Earth, then share them as placemark (KMZ) files. If you want to get involved in this, you might want to click here for a Google tutorial on line plotting. Submit your placemarks to us using the email address above and we'll post them here.

Here are some to get you started. These should load Google Earth and open when you click on the link; however some browsers might require you to right-click on the link and save the file to your machine, then open it from the 'File/Open' menu in Google Earth.
These files are network links so they will automatically update in GE whenever a new version of the file is available. You only have to download them once!

Glasgow Network of Aligned Sites From the late Harry Bell's 'Glasgow's Secret Geometry', a placemark file of his alignments, compiled by Grahame Gardner.

Forgotten Footsteps from Harry Bell's earlier book of the same title. Alignments in Central Scotland, compiled by Grahame Gardner.

The Ley Hunter's Companion From the 1979 book by Paul Devereux and Ian Thomson. Classic visual alignments in the Alfred Watkins tradition. Includes some from The Society of Ley Hunters' Archive. Compiled by Grahame Gardner.

The Michael Line David Furlong has produced a Google Earth placemark file of the Michael Alignment that you can download from this page.

Not necessarily alignments and not necessarily UK...

Labyrinths of the British Isles. Courtesy of The Geomancy Group, compiled by Grahame Gardner.

Labyrinths USA Inspired by the above, this is a work-in-progress placemark file in Google Maps of US labyrinths compiled by Karen Morgan.
