The Council and Council Members

Council Members

Grahame Gardner ( President), Whilst in his teens, Grahame taught himself water dowsing using home-made L-rods, and then pendulum dowsing for divination. He was introduced to earth energy dowsing by Billy Gawn in 1999. Since then Grahame has been trained in Modern European Geomancy by Sig Lonegren and Patrick MacManaway, and in advanced earth energy and deviceless dowsing by Billy Gawn.

Co-opted onto BSD council in 2003, and elected a Vice-President in 2006; Grahame also currently serves as Publicity and Website Manager for the EEG, is a founder member and Secretary of The Geomancy Group, and a BSD Registered Tutor. He lives in Glasgow. He was elected President in September 2008.

John Irwin (Vice President), has been a member of the BSD since 1994 and was co-opted as a Council member in January 2003. He was a founding partner of Canning, an international training firm, and is now an independent business consultant, dividing his time between Spain and the UK. He is actively involved in raising the profile of the society within the EU and developing BSD links with other dowsing organisations in Europe. A founding member of the Earth Energies Special Interest Group and an editor of its newsletter for many years, he is actively dowsing and researching archaeological sites in Southern Spain. He is also a trustee of Village Water. He finds dowsing is a way of developing and understanding more deeply our inter-relationship with all life.

Anne Leonard (Vice President), MA was co-opted as a Council member in April 2002. She is chairman of the charity Operation New World which, among other things, teaches dowsing to disadvantaged youngsters. She is an Alignment Therapist and a member of the Holistic Healers Association.

Adrian Incledon-Webber (Vice President) started dowsing when living in Cyprus at the age of seven. This lifelong obsession resulted in Adrian retiring from his busy Estate Agency practise of 20 years to start a new venture called ‘Dowsing Spirits’, working with earth energies, spirits etc. A practising Buddhist, Reiki master and holistic masseur (ITEC qualified) Adrian can often be seen at ancient sites and stone circles using those skills picked up over many years. He was elected onto Council at the 2006 AGM and elected Vice-President in Sept 2008.

Professor John Flavell M.Sc. CISP

John started dowsing about 10 years ago after watching a geologist hunt for water sources on his farm. John retired from full time education (computer science) ten years ago as deputy vice-chancellor of a Welsh university; he was also a founding vice-principal of a new college in the North East of England. He has been a member of a number of national committees and on the board of a number of universities. He then started a new career as a consultant and a certified practitioner of hypnosis, neuro-linguistic programming and thought pattern management. He has been running dowsing courses for a number of years. He is particularly interested in developing the art of dowsing for use in the garden.
Keith Harmon (Chair of the BSD Health SIG) was elected to the Council at the 2006 AGM and subsequently took on the task of Chairman of the Health Group. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the British Complementary Medicine Association and Chairman of the Association of Energy Therapists. He is also a serving member of the Reiki Regulatory Working Group and earlier held the post of joint chairman of the RRWG’s education sub-committee. He has been dowsing for about 10 years and has a particular interest in dowsing for health and promoting the values of dowsing therapists. He is a qualified teacher and a registered dowsing tutor, and spends a lot of time travelling around giving dowsing talks and workshops. Keith is also a qualified Energy Field Therapist, Reiki Master and Thought Field Therapist, which enables him to treat people in between his travels.
