The Council and Council Members


Council Members

 

Patrick MacManaway (President), was elected to Council in 1997 and as a Vice-President in January 2001. Trained in dowsing and healing by his father, Bruce MacManaway, in geomancy by Sig Lonegren and in Feng Shui by Feather Anderson, Patrick is a full time practitioner of geomancy working with geopathic stress and related issues with clients both in Britain and America. His passion is to explore our sacred relationship with the subtle energies of the world.

John Irwin (Vice President), has been a member of the BSD since 1994 and was co-opted as a Council member in January 2003. He was a founding partner of Canning, an international training firm, and is now an independent business consultant, dividing his time between Spain and the UK. He is actively involved in raising the profile of the society within the EU and developing BSD links with other dowsing organisations in Europe. A founding member of the Earth Energies Special Interest Group and an editor of its newsletter for many years, he is actively dowsing and researching archaeological sites in Southern Spain. He is also a trustee of Village Water. He finds dowsing is a way of developing and understanding more deeply our inter-relationship with all life.

Anne Leonard (Vice President), MA was co-opted as a Council member in April 2002. She is chairman of the charity Operation New World which, among other things, teaches dowsing to disadvantaged youngsters. She is a member of The College of Psychic Studies where she has completed a number of advanced pendulum courses with Robin Winbow. She is an Alignment Therapist and a member of the Holistic Healers Association.
Grahame Gardner (Vice President), Whilst in his teens, Grahame taught himself water dowsing using home-made L-rods, and then pendulum dowsing for divination. He was introduced to earth energy dowsing by Billy Gawn in 1999. Since then Grahame has been trained in Modern European Geomancy by Sig Lonegren and Patrick MacManaway, and in advanced earth energy and deviceless dowsing by Billy Gawn.

Co-opted onto BSD council in 2003, and elected a Vice-President in 2006; Grahame also currently serves as Publicity and Website Manager for the EEG, is a founder member and Secretary of The Geomancy Group, and a BSD Registered Tutor. He lives in Glasgow.

John Baker (Chair of the BSD Archaeology SIG) Discovered dowsing by accident some 10 years ago and having a general interest in archaeology became involved with a local archaeological Group. Founder member of the London and Thamesside Dowsers and currently Chairman. John was asked to set up a BSD special interest group for archaeological dowsing in 2004, was voted in as its Chairman in Jan 2005, and co-opted onto Council shortly thereafter.
David Dixon, B.Eng(Hons), M.Eng, CE, who was elected to the Council in 2000, is a self-employed consultant in the UK and a vice-chairman, shareholder and director of an Italian company. David worked for 8 years in Saudi Arabia and, on returning to the UK in 1988, set up his own company in Telford. In 1993 he became a member of the BSD. He was a founder member of the BSD Earth Energies Group and the Dowsing Research Group and is currently on the 5 Year Plan Working Party. David was elected as a Vice-President in January 2002.
Guy Hudson, BSc Hons is a professional water diviner having provided sources of water for many homes and communities in Britain and overseas. He has developed his techniques over 15 years as founder chairman of the Dowsing Research Group. There he worked with scientists and dowsers to see where science can contribute to dowsing and dowsing can help science. Five years ago he decided that he wanted more direct experience and started working professionally. He is Chair of Trustees for the charity Village Water and has dowsed more than 30 working wells in Africa. Other dowsing interests are detecting leaks and other civil engineering problems, health dowsing, geometry in architecture and mineral prospecting. As chair of the Water Divining Special Interest Group, he would like to encourage more to learn this most fundamental of dowsing skills, improve professional practice and also raise awareness amongst the general public to appreciate what water dowsers can do for them. Guy contributes regularly to Dowsing Today.
Sara Greenwood, B.Sc. (Hons), was co-opted to the Council in October 2002. She graduated in Applied Biology, has a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management, is a qualified teacher and a Reiki healer. Sara has held a number of progressively responsible positions in the Charity Sector, working for The British Trust for Ornithology, West Herts College of Further Education, National Trust for the Cayman Islands, the Montserrat National Trust. She was Director for Development: UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum for three years and is now Director for Development for the Sunnyside Rural Trust of which she has been Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Sara is very interested in personal growth and in bridging the gap between science and spirituality. To this end she has undertaken a number of courses, most recently including one year spiritual development at the College of Psychic Studies, one year Modern European Geomancy and is currently involved in Core Energy Management techniques.

David Sangwine, (Chair of the BSD Earth Energies SIG) In the late 1960s, he began exploring the dowsable energies found at stone circles and standing stones in the Derbyshire moorland. Currently, he is devoted to the continuing recognition of the wide range of perceptible effects associated with all forms of energy dowsing. David was co-opted to the Council in April 2004. David Retired from Council in October 2006 and was replaced by Maria Hayden as Chair of EEG. Maria's details will appear here soon.
Richard.J.West, F.Inst.D. MNFSH joined the society in 1997, has been an editor for the BSD Journal since 1999, and was co-opted to the Council in 2004. Richard began his working life as a HM Customs officer and was awarded two Queens commendations for outstanding success in the line of duty. Since then he has for the last 35 years run his own building and construction companies. In 1996 he founded the Priory, a complementary therapy Centre in the SE of England.

Richard is a Usui Reiki Master and healer member of National Federation of Spiritual Healers. He is on the professional register of the BSD and runs Lifespace UK Ltd, a dowsing company operating in many parts fo the world, specialising in geopathic stress, sick building syndrome, and energy related problems in addition to standard dowsing requirements in the building and archaeology fields.

Keith Harmon (Chair of the BSD Health SIG) was elected to the Council at the 2006 AGM and subsequently took on the task of Chairman of the Health Group. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the British Complementary Medicine Association and Chairman of the Association of Energy Therapists. He is also a serving member of the Reiki Regulatory Working Group and earlier held the post of joint chairman of the RRWG’s education sub-committee. He has been dowsing for about 10 years and has a particular interest in dowsing for health and promoting the values of dowsing therapists. He is a qualified teacher and a registered dowsing tutor, and spends a lot of time travelling around giving dowsing talks and workshops. Keith is also a qualified Energy Field Therapist, Reiki Master and Thought Field Therapist, which enables him to treat people in between his travels.
Adrian Incledon-Webber started dowsing when living in Cyprus at the age of seven. This lifelong obsession resulted in Adrian retiring from his busy Estate Agency practise of 20 years to start a new venture called ‘Dowsing Spirits’, working with earth energies, spirits etc. A practising Buddhist, Reiki master and holistic masseur (ITEC qualified) Adrian can often be seen at ancient sites and stone circles using those skills picked up over many years. He was elected onto Council at the 2006 AGM.
