Affiliated Local Groups, are separate and independent of BSD. Some groups specialise in certain areas of dowsing, others are general interest.
Each group is run by volunteers who set their own programmes. Please make contact with your local group
Forming an Affiliated Local Group, by Director, John Moss
We have an increasing number of enquiries from members and non members who are seeking local contact with other dowsers. Sadly we have often had to tell enquirers that there is no local group in their area. For a listing of the current BSD affiliated local dowsing groups please click here. Read on to find out where new groups are being established.
My first experience of dowsing came in 1997 when I caught sight of an advertisement in my local Parish magazine. A dowser was trying to start a group. At the time I was interested in finding a new hobby to provide a diversion from a stressful and unfulfilling job. It is a strange thought that attending my first meeting and feeling the rods move has led to the Director's chair at BSD!
A short while after the group had been running we made contact with BSD and soon became an Affiliated Group, one of almost 30 that we now have in the UK. Membership of a Local Group provides an invaluable source of help and support for dowsers
So what does an Affiliated Group mean? At the present time, it means that the Group has the option of adopting our model constitution which provides a useful framework for actually running the group and provides access to our Group Third Party Insurance Policy. Additionally, amongst other benefits, the Group will be able to take advantage of our special offer for website facilities, an essential tool which is very useful in attracting new members. We also ask for confirmation that the group agrees with the Objects of the Society and that members abide by our Code of Ethics.
At the Office we are keen to help and encourage the Groups as much as possible and Council Members regularly visit. We offer a discount on bulk packages of equipment.
If you are a solitary dowser who would welcome local contact or if you would like to help form a Group, please either contact us or one of the following members, if there is one in your area. It should be stressed that by agreeing to list their names it should not be assumed that they will actually run the new Group. They will simply be acting as a focal point at this stage.
